My mom is visiting this weekend, and seeing as I’m one of those lucky people who have a really cool mom, I’m off to spend some time with her, my step dad, and my brother in Boston. Truly, my mom is the best–creative, smart, strong, beautiful–and I love her dearly (even though she made me wait forever until I could pluck my eyebrows or wear makeup). Here’s a big “hi” to you, mom. Love, the weirdest of your two middle kids and the shortest person in the entire family–Karin.

Hi mom by Simply Cute by Karin

I just made a Facebook artist page and am feeling like a big Loser because I only have one like. One. single. like. Might someone else find it in their heart to like me too please (please)? Especially if you’re one  of my family members–I know you’re out there. You really should like me. At least on Facebook.

P.S. My brother just asked me how to go about liking my Facebook page. If you go to the  menu on the right and scroll down a little, you’ll see the Facebook Like button. Well, that’s one family member that likes me, but I have a really big family.

So I don’t usually draw guy cartoons, but a male friend of mine suggested I make a Valentine’s Day card for a man (or from a man, I guess). Here he is below. It’s still early in the game to know whether this will be a hit for Valentine’s Day (especially as guys tend to buy stuff at the last minute), but he’s getting a little love over at Etsy–that is, he’s been favorited a few times.

BTW, the inside of the card reads “and you’d be fine.”

I’ve sold a couple of my Descartes, “I love you; therefore I am,” Valentine cards. My Socrates magnet does pretty well too. Looks like famous philosophers in cat eye glasses sell, but do regular guys with goatees?

Like many people, I’ve become a pinterest freak. My boards began as a jumble, but are starting to look a little cleaner as my tastes and personality come through. What do I like? Abstract art. Porcelain. Breezy blues and greens. Mechanical valentines. Mary Jane shoes. Sometimes I wonder why we’re almost obsessively drawn to certain things. Like Peter Pan collars. I can’t get enough of them.
